She touches the picture. The book says the word. She says it back.
No screen, no scrolling, no algorithm — just a book that talks when a small finger presses it.
The problem
Every parent of a two-year-old knows the trade: the tablet buys you twenty quiet minutes and costs you a small amount of guilt each time. But a normal picture book needs an adult sitting beside it, and there isn't always an adult free.
The solution
BOLO is an interactive sound book a child operates alone. Touch a picture, hear the word. Touch it again, hear it again — the endless repetition that toddlers want and adults run out of patience for. It builds vocabulary through play rather than through a screen.
What's inside
-
Touch-to-hear pages — every illustration triggers its own word or sound.
-
Multiple learning sections — animals, vehicles, fruits, numbers, letters, colours, shapes.
-
Built-in quiz mode — asks the child to find a picture, so it tests as well as teaches.
-
Volume control — including a genuinely quiet setting for car journeys and flights.
-
Wipe-clean pages — assume sticky hands, because there will be sticky hands.
-
Rechargeable — no hunting for button cells at 8pm.

Frequently asked
What age is this really for?
Two to six. Under two, the touch precision is frustrating for them. Over six, most children have outgrown it.
What accent and language?
English. If exact language content is the deciding factor for you, please ask us before ordering — we'd rather you know than be disappointed.
Is it loud?
Adjustable, with a low setting that's genuinely quiet. Worth setting before you hand it over on a flight.
Will it replace screen time?
It gives you a screen-free option children will actually choose sometimes. We're not going to claim it replaces a tablet — that depends entirely on the child.
Is it safe for a toddler?
It has no small detachable parts and is built for rough handling. As with any electronic toy, use it with supervision, keep the charging cable away from the child, and stop use if the casing cracks.
